This new biography marks twenty years since Aaliyah's tragic death in 2001, told by hip-hop journalist Kathy Iandoli. The author's passion for the artist and the preservation of her memory is evident in every chapter, including interviews with those who knew the artist personally. As a young person who was only recently able to discover Aaliyah's music upon its addition to popular streaming services, this book provides influential, illuminating, and prescient context for her story as an incredible talent gone far too soon. --Kay

Ninth House volume 1
Notes
It's a novel that blends fantasy, science fiction, and horror all into one. It's even tossed a murder mystery in the pot! The humor, the characters, the mystery, and the at times disturbing imagery thanks to everyone being a necromancer, all drove Gideon the Ninth into being one of the rare novels I finished in one weekend. --Matt

A retelling of the Brothers Grimm's Rapunzel in Caribbean setting (African, Taino, and Spanish influences). It's a beautiful syncretization of the Germanic fairytale with pan-Caribbean culture. Illustrations reference vejigantes, santeria/brujeria, and traditional clothing. --Jesús

Ferrante's latest novel is a standout: engrossing, mysterious, and powerful. I was moved by Giovanna's coming-of-age, a distinctly Neapolitan tale that also resonates unusually within the universal experience of becoming a woman. --Skye

The newest Liane Moriarty (author of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers) does not disappoint with her newest release. It's a mystery and a family drama, but also very funny and heartwarming. I especially recommend trying the audio performed by Australian narrator Caroline Lee. She brings these characters to life brilliantly. This is very popular so get your hold on it right now! --Alicia
